Homecoming Week was a lot of fun! The students enjoyed demonstrating their school spirit dressing for each day's theme and participating in Wednesday's pep rally. Mrs. Holland represented the second grade in the three-legged race and won!
Mrs. Sessum sent home a note last week about our class's basket for the auction. Our theme is "All About Reading." If you can send any of the suggested items or something you feel would be a good addition, please send it to school and I will get it to Mrs. Sessum.
This week's spelling words: (double consonants and ck)
dress spell class full add neck stuck
kick rock black trick doll
Review words: off will
Challenge words: across pocket
I have set up a Spelling City account at <http://www.spellingcity.com/knightc/>. Students can sign in for the free games and activities to practice this week's spelling words.
Vocabulary words:
blooming - having flowers
shovels - garden tools used for lifting dirt and soil
scent - a smell
tough - hard, thick on the outside
wrinkled - folded up in a messy way; crumpled
plain - simple, not fancy
muscles - parts of the body used to help you move and do things
nodded - moved the head up and down
Read each night. In addition to reading our weekly story, encourage your child to read AR (Accelerated Reader) books. The school-wide goal is for each student to read 40 books with at least 80% accuracy this year. You received your child's results from the STAR reading test which indicated a suggested level of books for your child to select. I am trying to schedule time each week for students to take AR tests on the books that they have read.
Notes and Reminders:
BCS Fall Donation Drive continues until 10/2/15.
Fall Break is October 12-16.
