Last week we enjoyed a presentation by a strings group from the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. They presented "Smelly Feet," a book about a little girl who loves her socks so much that she refuses to take them off to be washed. This was excellent enrichment for our story for the week, "Ah, Music."
The Vocabulary Parade will be next Tuesday, November 24, at 8:30. Be our honored guests at the parade. The students will parade through the halls of the school showing off their costumes and posters. Students should be working on their posters which are due Monday, November 23. The vocabulary parade is based on the book, Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster. In this story a student confuses the word "miscellaneous" for the person "Miss Alaineus." She transforms her mistake when she arrives for the Vocabulary Parade at her school as "Miss Alaineus, Queen of All Misellaneous Things." Review the information that has been sent home. This is a graded project with the poster and costume each counting 50% of the grade.
Guidelines for the poster are:
1/2 poster board (10 points)
Vocabulary word - big and bold (10 points)
Definition (10 points)
Illustrate the word (10 points)
Name on back of poster (10 points)
If you need additional information, let me know.
